The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.
Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office
— Burglary
A woman reported Aug. 9 that her computer was missing and she didn’t know when it happened, but she and her child left her residence, in the 100 block of Wolverine Street, May 20 and didn’t return until Aug. 3. The woman said a man had the computer and was trying to sell it and the neighbors told her where the computer was. A deputy spoke with a juvenile who said the man tried to sell him the computer on the school bus. A serial number for the item has not yet been located.
— Fraudulent tax return
A man reported Aug. 10 that someone had fraudulently filed a tax return on him from his 2008 tax return. The man said he made $2,650 in 2008, and he gave his return to a black female in the Harrisburg area that was supposed to file the return. The man said he never received his refund for 2008, and he has since received a letter from the IRS stating that he filed with a gross income for 2008 as $57,774 and he also received a letter from the IRS stating that he owes the IRS $22,069.66.
— Criminal trespass
A man reported Aug. 11 that he was in bed at his apartment complex, Ivey League Apartments in the 200 block of Ivey Drive, when he heard a loud noise outside. He walked outside around his apartment building to see what had happened. The man said that as he rounded the corner of a nearby apartment, he observed the screen on the side window of the apartment had been damaged and the apartment was vacant and he was unsure of why anyone would attempt to enter the apartment through the window.

A man reported Aug. 10 that someone stole his white Westinghouse washing machine that was sitting behind his residence, located in the 100 block of Pine Cone Road. The man said the washing machine did not work, and he did not have the serial number for it, but he stated that the washing machine was taken sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. this date.
— Disrupting a public school system
A 19-year-old male was arrested Aug. 10 at Baldwin High School after a deputy with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the school in reference to a student who was being disrespectful and non-compliant with a PE teacher’s instructions. After further investigation, the man was subsequently taken into custody and charged with obstruction of a law enforcement officer and disrupting a public school system.

A Tri-County EMC employee reported Aug. 10 that he was out on field service checking a home in the 100 block of Gerrell Drive when he found that the power was still on at the residence. The man said the power was turned off at the particular residence Aug. 9 due to non-payment and the bill was in the name of a man who lived at the home. The case remains active.
— Theft by taking
An employee of an auto business, located in the 100 block of Garrett Way, reported Aug. 11 that an unknown person stole wheels and tires from the location sometime the previous night. Late on this date, a deputy was called out to the business again and a customer reported that the business parked his vehicle in the rear of the business, and sometime during the night, someone stole both of the doors to his black 1995 Jeep Wrangler. No possible suspects were named.

A man reported Aug. 11 that someone had stolen his window AC unit out of the window of his trailer, located in the 100 block of Nathaniel Drive. The man said he rents the trailer and a possible suspect could be the previous tenant, but he had no further information on the previous tenant.
— Criminal attempt to commit burglary
A woman reported Aug. 11 that someone attempted to gain entry into her home, located in the 100 block of Park Avenue, through a window on the west side of her residence. A deputy observed an area of a window on that side of the house that had been damaged when an unknown person attempted to pry open the window with an unknown object.
— Burglary
A man reported Aug. 11 that on Aug. 5 he discovered that his Dewalt Skill Saw, Dewalt battery-operated drill, Stihl chainsaw, 3/8 inch socket and ratchet set, and a socket and ratchet set were missing from the shop at his home in the 300 block of Stembridge Road. The man said the shop was secured as he last left it and the only way someone could have gained entry was to unscrew the screws out of the sheet metal and go in. The man said that he didn’t think to call law enforcement until his wife discovered several pieces of jewelry missing as well. There were no signs of forced entry and no exact date on the incident.

A man reported Aug. 9 that he just discovered that his car was missing from the yard of his home, located in the 100 block of Sugarberry Drive. The man said that he got in the previous night around 11:30 p.m. and he parked his vehicle, a 2003 gray Mitsubishi Galant, and left it unsecured with the keys in the middle console. After further investigation, the man’s vehicle was located in the 100 block area of Black Springs Road and it had been left in the bushes with the headlights on and unattended. The vehicle was called in by a motorist around 4:20 a.m. and deputies arrived at the scene and found no one in or around the vehicle.

— Theft by taking
A woman reported Aug. 9 that she walked out onto the front porch of her home, located in the 300 block of Clark Street, and noticed that someone had taken an old white wooden rocking chair and a blue plastic lounge chair sometime during the night.
— Entering auto
A man reported Aug. 9 that sometime the previous night an unknown person entered his Honda Del Sol while it was parked in the 400 block of Cline Avenue via an unlocked driver’s side door and removed his wallet that contained $200 cash and three credit cards. The man noted that the glove box had also been disturbed.
— Burglary
An officer was dispatched to a home in the 100 block of North Columbia Street Aug. 11 in reference to a burglary that had already occurred at that location. Upon arrival, the officer met with a woman who stated that her father owns the residence, and a landscaper called to let him know that there was a window broken on the back north side of the residence. A nearby neighbor also told the officer that he heard a loud sound of glass breaking Aug. 9 and he went outside to check it out, but he did not see anyone around. Several drawers were reportedly opened and ransacked, but the complainants stated that they didn’t see anything missing at the time of the report.
