MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.



Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office

— Theft by taking

A woman reported July 8 that she went to take a nap the previous date and when she woke up she discovered the medications that she had filled were gone from her home in the 100 block of Marion Street. The woman said she believed someone came into her house and took them while she was asleep. The woman said her brother lives with her, and he may have left the front door to the residence unlocked when he left to go into town. The woman said the medications were on a small table in the living room and they were still in their original containers and in a plastic bag. A report was filed so the woman could get her prescription refilled.

— Battery

A man reported July 9 that he hosted a party at Club Fahrenheit, located in the 2800 block of Irwinton Road, and he was accompanied by several females who did club promotions with him. The man said two of the females were having a civil conversation with each other when they were approached by one of the bouncers. The man said the bouncer confronted them, so he stepped in to intervene. The man said the bouncer picked him up underneath his arms and slammed him against a wall. The deputy spoke with the bouncer and he stated that he walked inside the establishment after clearing the parking lot, and when he walked in the door, he observed two females involved in a verbal altercation. The man said while attempting to resolve the issue, the male complainant approached him from behind and grabbed his arm. The bouncer stated that he picked the man up from underneath the arms and told him not to interfere with security issues. While speaking with the man, the deputy observed a small bruise on his right side. A report was requested for documentation purposes.

— Disorderly conduct

A 45-year-old man was arrested July 9 after deputies were dispatched to a call of a male subject who was threatening suicide with a shotgun. Dispatch advised that the subject’s father had just passed away just prior to the call for assistance. Upon arrival, deputies met with the man who had walked to a mobile home at the rear of some property in the 300 block of Sparta Highway and the man was detained and questioned. Deputies found two shotguns in the passenger seat of the vehicle. The man was subsequently arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, and he was transported to the Baldwin County Jail without incident.



Milledgeville Police Department

— Theft by taking, auto theft

An officer was dispatched to the Fairfield Inn and Suites July 11 in reference to someone needing assistance. Upon arrival, the officer met with a female complainant who stated that she was asleep in her room with her son and when she woke up, she noticed that her vehicle keys were missing. The woman said her cell phone and debit card were also missing. The woman said her male friend was drunk and he was the one who took the property. The complainant said when she woke up, the man was gone. The woman said she checked her debit card by phone and noticed that the card had been swiped at a store and the man had gone to his brother’s house in Eatonton. The woman said that the man had been drinking and was driving her vehicle. The woman also said the man called her and he was on his way back to the hotel to meet her. Once the man arrived back at the hotel, the woman called the Milledgeville Police Department and an officer arrived back at the hotel in time to see the man hand over the keys to the complainant’s vehicle, as well as her cell phone. Upon arresting the man, the female’s debit card was found in his possession and the debit card was returned to the complainant. The man was subsequently charged with one count of theft by taking.

— Fraud

A woman reported July 12 that on May 26, she paid $137 on her cable bill with cash and on June 18, the company automatically drafted another $137 out of her Bank of America bank account after she had paid the bill. The victim stated that she notified the cable company of the incident and the company has yet to do anything about the incident. The victim notified her bank of unauthorized transaction and they have asked her to contact authorities. The victim further stated this is the third time that this has happened, but the other offenses had not been documented.

— Theft by taking

A man reported July 12 that he left his pistol under a pillow on a lawn bench in his back yard, located in the 100 block of Effingham Road, when he went outside this date. The man said that his son was outside and he did not remember to take it inside with him, and when he went back outside, the pistol was missing, but the holster was still underneath the pillow. The man said when he went inside, the only people in his yard were his son and another man.
