MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.



Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office

— Burglary

A man reported July 11 that someone broke into his residence, in the 1600 block of Vinson Highway, sometime between June 27 and July 10. The man advised that he wasn’t sure when the incident happened, but two pairs of Nike shoes, along with several sets of shorts, were taken from the residence. The man said that he had come into contact with two men who had on shoes that he believed were his, and one of the men gave the pair of shoes back to him.

A woman reported July 10 that an unknown party stole her push mower from under the garage area of her residence, located in the 100 block of Park Avenue. The garage is an open style with no doors, and the woman said she did not know who might have stolen the mower.

A man reported July 9 that someone had stolen a water meter and hooked it up to a home in the 100 block of Ivey Drive. The man stated that the Baldwin County Water Department did not wish to prosecute the theft, but they did want the deputy to talk with the occupants of the home and warn them about the offense. The water meter was recovered and a report was completed documenting the incident.

A man reported July 10 that someone entered his residence, located in the 100 block of Harrisburg Road, and taken several of his possessions. The deputy did not observe a forced entry into the home, but the man stated that his wife had a key to his residence. The man said the offender took a 45-inch flat screen Sony television, a Panasonic 19-inch TV, a Sony 19-inch TV, an Emerson VCR, Sony DVD player, Emerson Karaoke Machine, Emerson portable radio, a Whirlpool washer, Kitchen Deluxe dryer, one twin bed, one double bed, one queen sized bed, a Hewlett Packard computer and three new car tires. The man, however, could not provide any potential suspects for the burglary.



Milledgeville Police Department

— Theft by taking

A woman reported July 9 that several items were stolen from the garage at her home, located in the 1900 block of North Jefferson Street. The woman said two white males pulled up her driveway in a pickup and one of the two came into her garage and rang the doorbell. A few moments later, the woman looked out of her window and saw one of the men walking to the vehicle with two gas cans in his hands and he then got in the vehicle and left her house. The man said when she came outside, she noticed that a shovel was also missing.

— Entering auto

A woman reported July 10 that someone time between July 9 and this date, an unknown person entered her 2008 GMC Acadia while it was parked in the 1400 block of South Elbert Street and took her Sony digital handheld camcorder, valued at $1,100. The woman said the doors to her vehicle were unlocked, and upon exiting the residence this date, she noticed that the left side front and rear doors were not closed on the vehicle and then discovered the item missing.

— Theft by taking

A water meter reader for the city of Milledgeville reported July 10 that he visited a home on Irwin Street last week, which he knows had not had water service for several months, and he found that the lock had been cut off the meter, allowing water to flow into the home. The complainant said he took photos of the two vehicles and photos of the meter usage, and he removed the meter at that time.
