Primecare hopes to create smiles, warmth

MILLEDGEVILLE — The Flournoy family hopes to keep seniors and disabled persons bundled up this holiday season with community support as they "Cover with Love."

"We started Cover with Love two years ago when we saw a lot of seniors not get recognized or appreciated during the holidays. A lot of people, while they’re giving gifts to kids, they leave out the seniors," Primecare Home Care Services co-founder and Vice President of Operations Joshua Flournoy said. "We want to show them how much we care about them. They prepared us for where we are today, and we want to make sure seniors aren't forgotten about."

Primecare Home Care Services hopes to collect donated items, including coats, jackets, furs, sweaters, socks and other tangibles, to help bless a few of the 175 clients the local nursing agency serves.

"Some of our clients have low income and they don't receive gifts during the holidays. We hand-select a few clients to provide them with a warm gift," Primecare CEO Caleb Flournoy said. "We collected 35 coats in our first year, but we want to do more this year and bless a lot of seniors in need. If we can even get 40 coats and jackets that would be great."

The Flournoys began the company in 2007 with the help of their brother Faris. Primecare provides professional in-home care and assistance to senior citizens and disabled persons across central Georgia who need assistance in their homes. Personal care services include bathing, mobility, feeding, grooming and transportation. Companionship services encompass housekeeping, pet care, escort to doctor’s appointments, 24-hour or live-in care and grocery shopping. The company currently serves Baldwin, Bibb, Bleckley, Crawford, Dodge, Greene, Hancock, Houston, Jasper, Jones, Lauren, Macon, McDuffie, Monroe, Peach, Pulaski, Putnam, Taliaferro, Thomson, Twiggs, Warren, Washington and Wilkinson counties. Primecare is a proud member of the Georgia Association of Community Care Providers and is licensed by the Georgia Department of Community Health.

Open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, Cover with Love donations can be dropped off at the Primecare office, located at 1501A N. Columbia St. next to Bug House Pest Control. Items can be donated starting Monday, Dec. 3 through the week before Christmas.

"For some seniors who don't have a family, that extra thought goes a long way. They're smiling and are happy and thankful because it's something they really need. We really want the community involved," Caleb said. "This Thanksgiving, it's important to remember those that are less fortunate and be thankful for the things that God has bestowed on your life. We appreciate the community for being involved and hope the same commitment is there despite the recession. We hope the community will help make a smile this season."
