  • Brookins takes stand to beg jury for mercy By HANNAH MARNEY

    On the two-year anniversary of the murders of Suzanne McDade Brookins and her daughter Samantha Giles, Brian Duane Brookins took the stand to defend his life. The jury found Duane Brookins guilty of two counts of felony murder, two counts of malice murder, one count of cruelty to children in the third degree, one count of aggravated assault, and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon on Saturday.

    Brookins took the stand under his right to testify and after several witnesses provided testimony.
